I was highly expecting this trip, specially as it was my first time traveling to Russia! We flew into Sochi and stayed one day on the Black Sea coast for a quick visit before heading to the Caucasus mountains. A bus drove us to Rosa Khutor, one of the future Olympic site, where we stayed for a week. They had not much snow and despite the warm conditions, they still managed to shape a good halfpipe. It was raining for the qualifiers and it turned into wet snow for the night finals. It was hard to ride and lots of girls couldn't land their runs. I managed to land a clean first run which secured me the first spot until the end. I couldn't have been happier to finish on the top of the podium here in Sochi one year before the Olympic Games. I will keep those great memories in mind for the year to come! It gives me an extra motivation before I hopefully can come back, as I am officially qualified for Sochi 2014!!!
